ART CLUB

A variety of mediums including paint, mixed media and charcoal are employed to create beautiful art pieces for students to take home.

CRAFT CLUB

Craft Club is a social, non-competitive club that gives students the opportunity to try different craft skills such as paperwork, sewing, beading and glueing.  Each week students create a different masterpiece they can take home.

CHOIR

Music is an integral part of the culture of Burdekin Christian College.  The College currently has both a Senior Choir and a Junior Choir.  Both have been extremely successful in competitions and eisteddfods they have entered as they reflect the beauty and joy of music.

INSTRUMENTAL

MUSIC

We have an expansive instrumental music program and offer one on one or individual sessions in most instruments.  Woodwind, percussion, brass, strings, piano and voice lessons are all available from highly qualified tutors.

PUBLIC SPEAKING

Public speaking gives students the opportunity to develop confidence and communication skills.  Our College participates in public speaking competitions such as Rostrum and provides mentoring and tutoring in these skills.

READERS CLUB

Readers Cup is the leading competition to encourage reading and comprehension skills.   Each year our College sends a Senior and Junior team to compete in Townsville.

MUSICALS

Burdekin Christian College prides itself on its annual musical productions.  All College students are expected to contribute to the musical production either through a role on stage or assisting with backstage lighting and sound.  The College musical is a highlight of the year and a singing and dancing extravaganza not to be missed.

EISTEDDFODS AND FESTIVAL OF ARTS

The College participates in many local Eisteddfods and Festivals of Arts in the Burdekin region giving students an opportunity to compete against other schools.  Choral speaking, choir, speech and drama, poetic performances, photography and art entries have won awards.

DRAMA

The College participates in the Burdekin Drama Festival with the other three high schools in the District.  This is a wonderful event which encourages students to work behind the scenes and on stage to home their craft.

BURDEKIN WATER FESTIVAL

Every year the College engages with the local Burdekin community through the Burdekin Water Festival.  The College runs a colourful thematic float up the main street and our students nominate to be a Water Festival Junior Ambassador.

UNDER 8S DAY

Students engage in activities to embrace the joy of early childhood through Under 8s Day.  Hands on activities allow our littlest learners to develop social, communication and fine motor skills.
